Lovik Elected President of Archaeological Society

(6/29/10) Karin Lovik, student life technical assistant, was recently elected president of the Central Gulf Coast Archaeological Society, a 101-member chapter of the Florida Anthropological Society. In addition to her presidential duties, she serves as CGCAS Membership Chair. The CGCAS is dedicated to preserving the natural and historical resources of Florida’s gulf coast and preserving archaeological treasures for future generations.

CCC Recognizes Academic Achievement

(6/28/10) The 2010 Spring semester recipients of Clearwater Christian College’s President’s and Dean’s Lists have been announced. Full-time, degree-seeking students sustaining a 3.900 GPA are eligible to receive the President’s List recognition. Those full-time, degree-seeking students who sustain a 3.500 GPA, but not greater than 3.899 are eligible to receive the Dean’s List recognition.

College Celebrates Steele's 90th Birthday

(6/21/10) Dr. Arthur Steele, founder and chancellor of Clearwater Christian College, celebrated his 90th birthday on June 17, 2010. After a birthday lunch with president Richard Stratton and other college administrators, Dr. Steele was ushered into CCC’s coffee shop, The Cove, for a surprise party attended by staff, faculty, family, and friends.

CCC Athletic and Spiritual Excellence Awarded

(6/15/10) On Friday, June 4, the National Christian College Athletic Association presented Clearwater Christian College with the highly sought after Sports Ministries Award for the 2009-2010 athletic year.

Senior ESS Majors Present Research Studies

(5/18/10) As one of Clearwater Christian College’s most popular majors, the bachelors’ of science in Exercise and Sport Science requires students to complete a number of different hands-on experiments during their four-year course of study. The capstone of this pursuit is a Senior Seminar research study requirement that is presented by the students at the end of their final semester.

Doctoral Award for Director of Institutional Research

(5/17/10) Dr. Eric Lovik, Director of Institutional Research at Clearwater Christian College, passed his doctoral review with flying colors and received his PhD. in Higher Education from the Penn State University, College of Health and Human Development on Sunday, May 16.

College Celebrates 42nd Commencement

New State Certification for Masters’ Recipients

(5/11/10) In accordance with the State of Florida and the Florida Department of Education for program approval, Clearwater Christian College is pleased to announce the eligibility of the Masters’ of Educational Leadership graduates for Florida State Certification in Educational Leadership.

Annual Businessman’s Mixer Recharges Corporate Batteries

Student Led Service at Local Church

Athletic Awards Reception

(5/4/10) On Tuesday, April 27, the Athletic Department of Clearwater Christian College hosted an awards reception in Cathcart Dining Hall. During the evening, athletes from both winter and spring sports were presented with the yearly awards.

New Hall of Fame Inductees

(5/4/10) On Thursday, April 29, the Athletic Department of Clearwater Christian College inducted two students into the Hall of Fame. Seniors Chrissie Sugimoto and Alyssa Hallice are the two newest members of the prestigious athletic club and are among the “best of the best.”

Underwater Adventure Prepares Students for the Future

(4/27/10) On Monday, April 19, Dr. Phil Larsen, professor of education and chair of the division of education, took his Methods of Teaching Elementary Science class on a field trip to the Mote Marine Aquarium in Sarasota.

KAX, SGC, and ZAX Claim Intramural Titles

(4/24/10) The Greek Intramural Athletic season has come to a close with many exciting moments. The season end put women’s Greek KAX taking first place in both volleyball and basketball, while men’s Greek SGC took first in volleyball and ZAX in basketball.

Goff Recognized by Florida Fund

(4/14/10) Elementary Education major, Nicole Goff was recently awarded the CCC Scholar of the Year award and the Minority Teachers Educational Scholarship by the Florida Fund for Minority Teachers (FFMT).

Kellogg Defends Dissertation

(4/14/10) Associate professor of mathematics Matt Kellogg has successfully defended his doctoral dissertation! In a culmination of years of study and preparation, the topic of his paper was the enhancement of pre-service elementary teacher’s pedagogical content knowledge by focusing on student misconceptions and exploring topics with web-based microworlds.

Werner Published in Historical Account

(4/14/10) Elizabeth Werner, Director of the CCC Library, was recently published in a history book entitled, Josephine’s Daughters: Women’s Stories from Josephine Country. (Grants Pass, Oregon: Josephine County Historical Society, 2009.) Published by the Josephine County Historical Society, the book included a chapter about two of Mrs. Werner’s ancestors, Lyvia Stephens and Caroline Briggs.

ROTC Cadet Observes Aircraft Refueling

(4/12/10) On March 26, sophomore ROTC cadet, Jedidiah Sturgis, took part in a USAF training mission. He had the privilege to fly on an Air Force KC-135 refueling tanker as part of an orientation flight for the detachment.

Political Club Hosts Debate Between Two Florida State Senate Candidates

(4/7/10) The Political Club hosted a debate between the two Florida State Senate candidates, Republican Jack Latvala and Democrat Nina Hayden. The event was attended by CCC students, outside supporters, and a surprise guest, current Pinellas County Commissioner, Republican Neil Brickfield.

Commencement Honors Recital

(3/29/10) The Music Department would like to congratulate the winners of the 2010 Commencement Honors Recital competition. The winners have earned the privilege of performing in the highlight recital of the year on April 20, 2010.

CCC Hosts Fine Arts Competition

(3/29/10) The Sunshine State Association of Christian Schools held their annual fine arts competition on the CCC campus on March 11-12. 2010. This marked the third consecutive year that CCC has hosted the event.

Senior Music Major Accepted at Two Graduate Schools

(3/26/10) Ryan Blakemore, senior music major, was recently accepted to two graduate schools for Piano Pedagogy, the University of South Florida and Florida State University.

Unforgettable Event Enjoyed by College Family

Mullholand Qualifies for Boston Marathon

(3/23/10) Associate Professor of Exercise & Sport Science Daryl Mullholand has qualified to run in the famed Boston Marathon! Clocking a race time of 3:30:18 at the 26.2 mile Gasparilla Marathon held the last weekend of February in Tampa, Daryl praises the Lord for his strength.

Students Show Support for FRAG

(2/23/10) Imagine what would happen to private higher education in Florida if the state did away with the FRAG (Florida Resident Access Grant)? In today’s economy, every state legislature is trying to cut costs in light of declining revenues. Many legislators lobby for their cause or against another’s. For this reason, former CCC President Dr. George D. Youstra traveled to Tallahassee with seniors Michael Kleer of Miami and Music Brunetto of Clermont to meet with state legislators to stress the merits of the FRAG.

SACS Approves the M.Ed. in Educational Leadership

(12/10/09) On December 8, 2009 the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) announced that Clearwater Christian College is approved to award the Master of Education in Educational Leadership. This decision was made at the annual meeting held in Atlanta, GA.

Tournament Grabs a Hole-in-One!

Men's Soccer Wins First National Tournament

(11/18/09) On Monday, November 16, the Clearwater Christian College men’s soccer team defeated Southeastern University 2-1 to win the NCCAA II National Championship.

Clearwater Wins Fourth Straight NCCAA National Volleyball Championship

(11/16/09) Clearwater Christian College participated in the 2009 NCCAA II National Volleyball Championship this past weekend at the Kissimmee Civic Center. The team captured another national championship banner for the fourth straight season marking their ninth national title in the past 15 years.

Alumni Basketball Games: The Ups and Downs

(11/10/09) The 2009 Alumni Basketball games held Saturday, November 7 experienced some new firsts for this event. A lower than average turnout caused the ladies' game to turn into a contest played by a divided squad comprised of participating alumni and all members of the current 2009-2010 women's basketball team. A positive outcome was that everyone had an opportunity to play, and our alumni players even had a chance to catch their breath every once in a while.

Cougars Succeed at Regional Championships

(11/3/09) The volleyball team and men's soccer team won the NCCAA II regional tournaments, and they will be competing along with the women's soccer team in the NCCAA II national championship tournaments on November 12-16, 2009.
