Cougars Struggle Late in 4-0 Loss to Eckerd

Clearwater Christian College lost to Eckerd College 4-0 Tuesday in men's soccer action. The Cougars played tough for 70 minutes, trailing by a score of 1-0 with only 20 minutes to go. But a flurry of goals by the Tritons over a five-minute span put the game out of reach for the Cougars. Mike McGee led the Tritons with 2 goals, both off corner kicks.

The Cougars best chance to score came midway through the 2nd half as Paul Vanaman was able to create several opportunities off the counter-attack deep in the Eckerd end but came up empty.

Coach Whitaker had this to say about the match: "We simply got outclassed by a quality Eckerd team tonight. We battled for 70 minutes before losing our focus and letting the match get away from us with a poor 5 minute stretch. We can learn a lot from playing this kind of opponent and this will only make us better."

Clearwater has the weekend off before travelling to play Webber International on Tuesday, September 28.
