CCC Battles Atlanta Christian to a Tie

(10/2/09) Clearwater, FL- The Cougars hosted Atlanta Christian on Friday, October 2, at Glen Oaks Park. Clearwater’s game plan was to come out on the offensive and look for early opportunities to score.

This strategy was carried out in the first half as the Cougars played the role of the aggressor while dominating play, and creating multiple scoring opportunities. The Clearwater defense played with great intensity throughout the entire game, as well as the season, and held Atlanta Christian to 4 shots on goal the entire game.

Throughout the second half CCC slowed down play in an attempt to break a scoreless tie but could not finish the opportunities they created. As the overtime winded down, the game was still scoreless and both defenses played strong. This was the Cougars second tie this season.

After the game Coach Whitaker had this to say, “Except for our finishing, I thought that overall our team played quite well. We controlled play and created numerous opportunities for ourselves. Our defense continues to play well, but we need to find a way to get better quality in the offensive third of the field.“

The Cougars will be in action again on Saturday, October 3, at Glen Oaks Park against Toccoa Falls College.
