Cougars Rebound Back To Get to National Championship Match

After suffering their first loss in the NCCAA National Tournament since 2005, the Cougars fought back to win in the semifinal match against Manhattan College, 3-1 to secure a spot in the NCCAA National Championship. This will be the 19th time the Cougars have made it to the final event, capturing 12 previous titles.
With what looked like a near impossible feat as four starters for the Cougars came up sick prior to the match, the team demonstrated great character and put together a winning combination. Freshman Karly Dampier, who has seen limited play this season, stepped up big for the Lady Cougars with 7 kills and a 41% hitting efficiency while Emily Osborne also played above her average with 8 kills. Dana Medich scored another double/double with 11 kills and 16 digs while setter Cassie Foster recorded 31 set assists.
With the victory, the Clearwater team is headed into the NCCAA National Championship match later today. They will have wait to see who they will face as Lincoln Christian University goes up against Ozark College in the other semifinal match.
