Cougars Claim Win Over Toccoa Falls

Less than 24 hours after a grueling loss, the Lady Cougars bounced back in exciting fashion against a feisty Toccoa Falls College team in the last game of a long road trip.

The fatigue of the long trip took it's toll early as the Eagles jumped out to a 11-26 lead over Clearwater in the early going. But the Lady Cougars would close out the last 12 minutes of the first half with a 28-8 explosion to take a 39-34 lead into the locker room at halftime.

In the second half, the Eagles would make an early statement that they were not going to go away as they opened with a 9-0 run to take a 43-39 lead. After trading baskets with the Lady Cougars, Toccoa Falls would grab their largest lead of the second half at 48-43.

From there, the Lady Cougars were able to force numerous turnovers. During one stretch, the Lady Cougars forced the Eagles into turnovers on five consecutive possessions. The Lady Cougars would score points off of three of those turnovers including Tiffany Pack's 2 three-point baskets to seal the game. The final score was 67-58.

For the Cougars, three players scored in double-figures - Tiffany Pack and Bekah Misiura each scored 17, and Tori Hale had 15 points. Alyssa Zallie and Hali Reynolds each put in double-digit rebounding performances of 10 and 11 respectively.

With the win, the Lady Cougars move to 4-1 in the South Region and secure a minimum #2 seed for the regional tournament. Their next game will be at home against the Gyrenes of Ave Maria on Tuesday, February 4 at 5PM.
