Cougars Make it Two in Tennessee


The Cougars took the court for the second time in as many days as they competed against the Conquerors of Crown College. Clearwater played well in the first half but could not maintain any lead against Crown, and the halftime score was tied at 46. The Cougars took a 12 point T the ten minute mark of the second half with a score of 70-58 but the Conquerors would not fold and eventully came back to tie the game at 82 all. The Cougars sealed the game when Tristan Shore blocked a shot and then was fouled. He went to the line and hit one of two free throws to give Clearwater a three point advantage. Crown had two attempts to tie the game in the final possession but both shots came up short, and the Cougars won 90-87. The game was played in front of a capacity crowd which included Del Wubbena and Keith Champion, two former Cougar coaches.

The Cougars were led by Tristan Shore's 32 points, 7 assists, 9 rebounds and 6 steals. Tristan had plenty of help with Brian Horrach and Colin DeHate each scoring 13. Erik McRae continued his great guard play adding 9 assists and 9 boards. Grant Touma led the way on the flass with 10 rebounds, and he also had 6 assists and 6 steals. Devin Paularrine put 8 points on the board. Freshman Charlie Brown hit two pressure free throws late in the game to help the Cougars.

The Cougars play their first home game on Tuesday, November 13 when they host Johnson and Wales University. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
