CCC Takes Out Webber on the Road

Clearwater traveled to Babson Park for a Friday afternoon match against NAIA opponent, Webber International. The Cougars gained a much-needed victory after a short weather delay.

The Warriors came out strong in the opening 15 minutes and created a few half-chances, but were unable to capitalize thanks to some huge saves from Cougar goalkeeper, Anthony DeRosse. Clearwater worked their way into the match as the half progressed, but the score remained 0-0 heading into the half-time break.

Clearwater enjoyed the bulk of the possession in the second half and reaped the reward with a goal from Freshman Brad Cole in the 80th minute. Sean Tierney started the sequence with a crushing tackle in Webber’s own half, and Drew Custer slipped a ball into Cole near the top of the box. The Warriors threw players forward for the final ten minutes, but could not find the equalizer. Clearwater kept its second shutout of the season behind a stellar performance from DeRosse and the back line of Drew Nilius, Riley Tuininga, Johnathan Moore, and Nate Shefcyk.
