Women's Soccer Defeats Manhattan Christian College

The Lady Cougars traveled to Toccoa, GA to play fellow NCCAA II opponent Manhattan Christian College. Clearwater was looking to avenge a one goal loss to Manhattan in last year's national tournament.

Clearwater controlled the first half of the game even hitting the crossbar twice, and Manhattan's goal keeper played well and made several excellent saves. Despite pressuring the Manhattan goal the game was a scoreless tie at halftime.

The second half would be a different story however. Tori Hale opened the scoring just two minutes after halftime off of a great through ball from Cybille Lassegue. Hale would strike again in the 54th minute with an assist from fellow forward Leah Zwiers. Freshman Jamie Ray scored her second goal of the season to put the Lady Cougars up 3-0 in the 63rd minute, and Kelsey Redemann scored the game's final goal to give the Lady Cougars a four goal victory.

Coach Bates was pleased with the win and had this to say, "The first half was a little frustrating but the team responded well after halftime. All of the girls gave a good effort and we were fortunate to come out on top."

The Lady Cougars will be in action again on September 1 at Toccoa Falls College when they take on Kentucky Christian University at 12 p.m.
