Wilson Named Women’s Basketball Coach

Anthony Wilson has been named the Cougars’ women’s basketball coach for the 2012-2013 season. Coach Wilson has been intricately involved with Cougar basketball, most recently serving as assistant coach of the men's basketball team under Coaches Wubbena and Champion. A former 4-year Cougar player and graduate, Wilson is a two-time NCCAA All-American and a member of the CCC Hall of Fame. Coach Wilson also serves as the director of admissions for CCC.

Coach Wilson said, "I am excited about the opportunity to coach the Women’s Basketball team. Their success over the last few seasons speaks for itself. I want to win championships, but, more importantly, I want the women’s basketball team to further develop their relationship with the Lord and learn to use basketball as a means of living out the Gospel before others.”

Sarah Trill, sophomore commuter student and Cougar basketball player, has known Coach Wilson for years. As the daughter of alumnus and local pastor, Matt Trill, she is looking forward to what he will bring to the team. “I am so excited for the Lady Cougars this season. Coach Wilson has been a great leader in my church and I am sure he will be a great coach for the Lady Cougars. I know he will push the team to work hard, and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for this year.”

We are pleased to have Coach Wilson’s experience and solid philosophy of Christian athletics as an addition to our coaching staff. Athletic Director Mike Touma said, "I am very excited to have Anthony Wilson as the new women's basketball coach. His passion and knowledge for the game, as well as his ability to coach will make an immediate impact on the program."
