The Cougars Defeat Pensacola Christian (NCCAA I) 75-66


The Cougars defeated Pensacola Christian (NCCAA I) 75-66. In a hard fought game that saw both teams play with a lot of heart, CCC prevailed from the free throw line down the stretch and held off the PCC Eagles in the last 5 minutes. It was an exciting game from the start as both teams came into the game trying to extend their own 7 game win streaks.

CCC (12-12) led 37-33 at the half and played great defense in the second as they increased the lead to 13 with about 8 minutes to go. PCC (18-9) chipped away at the lead and cut it all the way down to 4, when the Cougars came up big at the free throw line and extended the lead to the final 9 point margin.

Erik McRae led CCC with a career high 18 points, including 6 free throws in a row during the last 4 minutes. Matt Wells had 16, and Tristan Shore added 10. Shore also pulled down a game high 11 rebounds for the Cougars, who have now won 8 in a row.

Tuesday night, CCC will face Florida Christian in the final game of the regular season. In a game that will determine first place in the South Region's regular season, the Cougars are 7-0 in the region and FCC is 6-1. Congratulations to the Cougars and all of the Cougar fans that made the trip to Pensacola.
