2012 Men's Baseball Schedule Released

The Clearwater Christian College baseball team has officially released their schedule for the upcoming 2012 season. With new faces on the coaching staff and team, the 2012 season should be an exciting one for the Cougars. Finishing their 2011 season with a loss in the NCCAA DII College World Series championship game to familiar foe Toccoa Falls College, the Cougars look forward to hosting the defending champions for a weekend series on March 16-17. Another game to look forward to is the newest member of the NCCAA, Florida Christian College, at home on Saturday, March 3.

The 2012 schedule includes 9 NAIA teams including: a mid-week double header against Brewton Parker College (37-18) who finished the season ranked 15th nationally in the NAIA Coaches Poll; the NAIA Sun Conference Members Southeastern University (43-20-1); Webber International University (30-26); Warner University (30-22-1); Florida Memorial University (13-30); and Northwood University (30-21). From other NAIA conferences, the Cougars will play Point University (28-26), Truett McConnell College (26-25), and Alice Lloyd College (17-26). It also includes 3 NCAA DII colleges including in state St. Leo University (19-30) and Eckerd College (17-32). New NCAA member college, Cedarville University (33-18-2), will play the Cougars on a Thursday double header on March 1.

Rounding out the schedule are two junior college baseball programs games against Pasco-Hernando Community College and St. Petersburg College. The Cougars are looking forward to playing St. Petersburg College at Bright House Stadium on Friday, April 20.

In his first year as head coach at Clearwater, Josh Rebandt said this about the 2012 schedule, "Our schedule is full of great baseball programs in and out of state. We will have our work cut out for us as we prepare to get back to the NCCAA DII College World Series, and I believe that this tough schedule will have us ready. The guys have been putting in a lot of hard work with off season weight room workouts and conditioning that will help us get through the grind of a college season. I am looking forward to seeing the outcome of this season."

Please stay tuned to the website all season as the Cougars open at Warner University on January 31, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. Support the team as they prepare to get back to Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio for the NCCAA DII College World Series.
