Each semester, students may choose from a variety of Christian service opportunities and commit to performing at least one service activity weekly for the duration of the term. Students serve in a wide range of capacities in both the local church and the community.IN THE LOCAL CHURCH...Many students desire to fulfill their Christian Service requirements by serving in the local church. Common Christian service activities include teaching Sunday school or assisting with AWANA, nursery, children’s ministries, or youth group. Some choose to serve by performing special music, participating in the choir or orchestra, or running the sound board. IN THE COMMUNITY...Each week, a large number of students reach out to the community through a variety of services. Students serve in nursing homes and homeless shelters, as well as at a children’s home and missionary home. Others choose to visit a local children’s hospital or participate in Joy Club, a ministry in which students share the gospel with under-privileged children in the Clearwater area. Teams of students also go street-witnessing each Wednesday evening in downtown Clearwater. Students may also get involved at the local crisis pregnancy center and in after-school tutoring for Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs. |
