While You Were Out

Last summer, we worked on making Clearwater Christian College a wireless hotspot for internet users; this summer, we’ve taken on much bigger tasks involving dump trucks, drills, and dozens of paint cans. While some may believe that all activity dies on campus when the students are gone, those that remain “by the stuff” can attest to the endless activity of renovations and upgrades.

First of all, we’re renovating the Dambach Chapel. Students will be amazed at the transformation of our small chapel in the Admissions building. After pulling up the carpet, stripping the walls, installing new light fixtures, and repainting, maintenance crews built a brand new platform. The new stage now extends across the front of the room with a curtain hiding the wings—an addition that will be appreciated by the drama club and senior music majors as the curtain will allow for the usage of a “backstage” portion.

Our next big change involved 70,000 pounds of dirt, 175 dump truck runs, end loaders, box scrapers, a grader, and a roller. The CCC soccer teams will be pleased to see our freshly leveled and seeded soccer field. In an attempt to raise the level of the playing field so that the August and September rains would not wash out games, our maintenance staff has completed an entire reconstruction of the field and surrounding areas. For several days, maintenance staff and summer student workers assisted a local contracting company in the grading, rolling, and seeding.

Last, but not least, we are purchasing additional equipment for our biology and Exercise Sport Science labs. At the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2010, Senior Class President Todd Bennett presented CCC with the class gift of a monetary donation designated for use in our science department. This gift, combined with the funds from a generous donor, will provide updated equipment for our science faculty and students.

Clearwater Christian College is continuously striving to grow in the pursuit of knowledge and godliness—we are thankful that God has allowed such blessings to take place on campus this summer. All of the upgrades, renovations, and improvements will allow faculty and staff to better serve our student body. Truly, “The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad” (Psalm 126:3).
