KAX Hosts Walk for Life

On Saturday, April 10, the Clearwater Christian College Women's Greek, Kappa Alpha Chi hosted a Walk for Life fundraiser in conjunction with the Pregnancy Center of Pinellas County. The Pregnancy Center of Pinellas County offers alternative solutions to abortions, counseling, and adoption services for pregnant women. The trained Life Coaches at the center frequently encourage young women to consider their options and show them how they can raise their child or provide contacts and resources that answer difficult questions.

Out of the 37 Walk for Life attendees, eight CCC Greeks were represented, as well as two staff members, their families, and one alumnus. Each walker logged at least three miles from campus to the Safety Harbor pier, while many completed the total six mile trek by walking back to campus. The CCC Walk for Life totaled 153 collective miles.

KAX did a wonderful job not only of representing CCC, but also actively exhibiting Christian love to the community. The Greek raised $2,115.00 for the pregnancy center--a total that will save eight babies. Andrea Bailey, KAX representative and intramural director, said, "By walking, we were able to show the community that we care about the issue of abortion. I think it was even more influential because the majority of us were young adults, where the issue of abortion is most frequent in our society. As we made our way to the pier, we encountered several people in cars or just out and about who made it known to us that they were encouraged by what we were doing by waving or giving us a thumbs up. That little impact can be enough to save someone's life, a baby's life. That is truly why we walked."

Andrea was encouraged by the 100% support of her fellow Greek officers at the event. "It proved to me that they were not just committed to the Greek itself, but to its members and officers as well."

Thank you, KAX, for hosting the 2010 Walk for Life at Clearwater Christian College!
