Staff Changes & Promotions

As we look forward to the 2014-2015 school year, several changes are occurring with current personnel. Some of these changes are reflective of a new organizational structure President Klem is implementing to help the college compete in the ever changing higher education market. Others are promotions intended to strengthen the college’s operational position as we move forward. Some are well-deserved faculty promotions due to longevity, additional educational or professional training, and classroom effectiveness. Alumni of CCC are designated by their year of graduation.

Leading the changes is the naming of Anthony Abell as college provost. Abell first came to CCC in 2003 to teach in the Bible department; however, he has undergraduate education in business and has leadership experience in the corporate world and United States military. Abell will oversee the day-to-day operations of the institution through the various directors and administrative personnel.

Dr. Daniel Ebert (’76) returned to the college this January as chairman of the Division of Biblical Studies. He has been named Senior Vice President, with duties including advising the president, developing and directing the Faith to Life Worldview Center, developing international education, and overseeing missions.

Others joining the executive leadership team as directors include Ben Puckett (’76-Alumni and Advancement), Paul Schmiel (Operations) and Jessica Stewart (’12-Finances). Dr. Vickie Denny has been named as director of athletics and will oversee our ever-growing intercollegiate sports program.

In the areas of academics, the following faculty members are serving as new division or department chairs: Dr. Mary Clater (’06-chair of the division of arts and letters), Dr. Jared Linebach (’07-chair of the division of science) and Dr. Kristin DeWitt (’87-chair of the department of psychology).

The college also announced that Dr. Melissa Cancel (’93) was promoted from associate professor to professor of communications. Melissa has been teaching at CCC since 1997. Mrs. Marian Foulks and Dr. Jared Linebach (’07) were both promoted from assistant to associate professor. Mrs. Foulks began teaching at CCC in 2007; Dr. Linebach joined the faculty in 2011.

New personnel joining the college family for the first time will be announced later in the summer.
