CCC at CCFCC Expo

Landing that first job can be a challenge. However, Lisa Dollenmayer from the CCC Guidance and Counseling Office makes it a little easier through her service and ministry to the student body. This month, Mrs. Dollenmayer has been preparing students to participate in the annual Career Expo Fair sponsored by the Colleges of Central Florida Career Consortium (CCFCC) and is comprised of a number of ICUF colleges in the Central Florida area. The fair was held at the University of Tampa across the Bay and over 64 companies from the Central Florida area participated this year. Nearly 300 juniors and seniors from participating institutions took part in this year’s fair. Dollenmayer aided CCC students by aggressively promoting the event, providing free shuttle service to and from campus, and offering timely workshops prior to the actual fair to help students get a competitive edge.

In regards to the benefits of the fair, senior Criminal Justice major Josh Wheeler commented “ I loved it (the Expo) because it provided an excellent way to network with various employers even though I still have a year left of school. I loved that even though I am a Criminal Justice major, many of the employers were still willing to talk to me about what they did and how I could get involved. I have certain ideas of where I want to be in life but not always sure how I am going to get there. The career expo provided me the opportunity to look at the different professions offered there to try and get a feel for what I might want to do after graduation.”

In addition to career fairs, the Guidance and Counseling Office provides on-going workshops and seminars to CCC students, leads to profitable employment and internship opportunities, hosts prospective employers on campus, and offers one-on-one career counseling to those seeking assistance. Many students who avail themselves of these services find pathways to worthwhile experiences that aid in securing employment after graduation.
