Kerr Hangs Up Her Apron

Miss Beth Kerr
After many years of faithful ministry, CCC food services employee Beth Kerr is officially retiring from Clearwater Christian College. Miss Kerr, as she is affectionately called, came to know Christ as her savior as a teen. Eventually, she went to college, and obtained a Bible diploma through Baptist Bible College in Clark Summit, PA. Following college, Beth served the Lord in food services at several Christian colleges before finally coming to Clearwater Christian College in 1992 as our food services director. In 2009, she handed the chief responsibilities over to current director Dennis Burggraff and assumed the role of Chief Cook. Miss Kerr officially retires on December 12, 2013.

The Bible often speaks of the church as being a body and each member an important part in order for the work to go forward as God intends. Organizations relying on food services personnel understand the vital nature of their service and the challenges associated with meeting the associated demands. Food Services typically serve at least twenty-one meals each week and handle all the special occasions that often arise. Prior to and following each meal are hours upon hours of preparation and clean up. Maintaining equipment, preparing a variety of meals, and satisfying individuals who are used to mom’s home-cooking can be a difficult challenge. With such challenges also come great opportunities to minister to those whom they serve, to staff who work alongside, and to the myriad of vendors who provide the necessary supplies. Beth Kerr will be remembered for her integrity and hard work, as one with a high standard of excellence for herself, her ministry, and the people who worked under her, and as a gracious instructor…and, of course, her good meals. One cannot be in her presence long without realizing her love for the Lord and for the students entrusted to her care. Her ministry often went beyond the kitchen where she could be found attending student functions, especially sports events such as women’s volleyball, encouraging players and interacting with spectators. In the summer of 2011, Beth joined head volleyball coach Vickie Denny on a trip to Cameroon where they visited and ministered alongside one of her former workers Sylviane Essama (’97) and her family. Many lives have been touched by her gracious ministry while at CCC and after they have graduated. Miss Kerr is often one of the first people alumni seek when they return to campus.

Clearwater Christian College wants to thank Miss Kerr for her service to the Lord Jesus Christ and the hundreds of faculty, staff, and student body members who have passed through our doors during her tenure. Thank you Miss Kerr for touching our lives.
