James Earned Doctorate


With the completion and defense of her dissertation, Assistant Professor of Education Christy James was awarded the Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction Leadership from Argosy University on April 5, 2013. Dr. James came to Clearwater Christian College in the fall of 2012 and teaches courses such as History & Philosophy of Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Social Studies Methods, and Classroom Management, in addition to her responsibilities as director of the College’s Masters of Educational Leadership program. Before coming to CCC, James earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Studies Education and Counseling from Grace College in Winona Lake, IN, and the M.Ed. from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, IN. The title of her dissertation was ‘Bullying Prevention: Is Online Education a Possible Strategy?’. The subject of bullying is a one of growing significance in our schools with the moral decay of our society in general and with the increase of cyber technology. Regarding Dr. James, Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Mary Draper is quoted saying, “Dr. Christy James has worked very hard here at CCC to take over many of the responsibilities of the master’s degree program while finishing her dissertation. I am very proud of her work with both, and her dissertation work regarding bullying and how online may give us ideas for helping with bullying will influence teachers, the classroom, and education in the future.”
