While You Were Out: 2012

New Cougar logo painted on gym floor
Last summer, we worked on the Clearwater Christian College soccer field and chapel; this summer, we’ve taken on tasks involving bus graphics, Cougar photos, and cement. While some may believe that all activity dies on campus when the students are gone, those that remain “by the stuff” can attest to the endless activity of renovations and upgrades.

First of all, we’ve redone the Cougar on the gym floor. Each year, the maintenance department attends to the gym floor by laying new coats of shiny coating. This year, we added a job to their list: we needed a new Cougar. In a combined venture with the graphics team, students and spectators will enjoy a fresh look at the Cougar on the gym floor. CCC’s graphic designer, Steve Haught, said, “A new Cougar floor graphic was added this summer to unify the look of the graphics located in the gymnasium. We now have a Cougar Den branded entirely with the official Cougar logo.”

New motor coach
Our next big change was the purchase of a new motor coach for campus activities and teams. Led by an alumni initiative, CCC has acquired a beautiful bus that will allow athletic teams, music teams, and student transports to be done in style. Dan Wareing, director of the annual fund and staff representative for this project, said, “One of our initiatives leading into this summer was buying a new bus that could be used for various teams and groups at the college. Our Development Office decided to send out a series of emails to our alumni and we were pleased with the response. We now have the bus on campus and on behalf of the Office of Institutional Advancement and the many students who will benefit from this new vehicle we thank all the alumni that joined us both in prayers and donations.”

Other random campus beautification projects include the removal of several dying bushes and installation of new foliage, the laying of new cement in front of Dambach Hall to reduce slippery conditions during the rainy seasons, and a new layer of paint on several campus buildings.

Some of the new foliage added to campus
Also, using the funds donated from the classes of 2011 and 2012, the new water filtration system has been successfully implemented in all drinking water on campus.

Last, but not least, we added a number of new faculty and staff, including President Klem. Our college family is continuously growing with men and women dedicated to serving God by impacting the lives of our student body. Vicki Livingston, director of human resources, said, “To me it is exciting to see our own graduates go off, obtain additional degrees, and then come back to serve. Of the ten new hires, five are alumni. I believe this provides positive feedback to our influence on lives and our alumni’s desire to give back. I am also excited to see how the Lord will work to integrate these new individuals into our college family and use them to reflect His glory!”

Clearwater Christian College is continuously striving to grow in the pursuit of knowledge and godliness—we are thankful that God has allowed such blessings to take place on campus this summer. All of the upgrades, renovations, and improvements will allow faculty and staff to better serve our student body. Truly, “The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad” (Psalm 126:3).
