Casarow Receives Doctorate of Business Administration

Dr. Steve Casarow, associate professor of business and information systems management at Clearwater Christian College, received his Doctorate of Business Administration from Argosy University. Dr. Casarow successfully defended his doctoral thesis, Does Cynicism or Trust Affect Retention Rates Among College Students, and joins the ever-increasing ranks of faculty doctoral recipients at CCC.

Dr. Casarow chose to study cynicism and trust within higher education because he was curious about the question and possible answers. “This study investigated whether students’ attitude levels of trust or cynicism for educators and the education industry affect their disposition to remain at [their chosen] institution of higher learning and to persist in completing their college degree,” he said.

Dr. Mary Draper, vice president for academic affairs, said, “I am very proud of Dr. Steve Casarow for completing his Doctorate in Business Administration earlier than anticipated. It takes a lot of work, dedication, and tenacity to complete a doctoral program, and he demonstrated each of these. His doctorate will further strengthen our business major and the business division.”

“[My doctoral journey] was challenging, frustrating at times, interesting, required lots of perseverance and patience, and rewarding. Knowing more about business allows me to be more effective in the classroom. I am thankful for the support of the college, especially Dr. Mary Draper, which helped me accomplish this goal,” said Dr. Casarow.
