College Celebrates 44th Commencement

The faculty and staff of Clearwater Christian College are pleased to announce the successful commencement of the Class of 2012. On Saturday, May 5, friends, family, and supporters gathered at Ruth Eckerd Hall to participate in the crowning moment for the graduating class. 85 undergraduate students received their diplomas after successfully completing the requirements for their bachelorís degrees. President Richard Stratton presided over the ceremony and incoming President Jack Klem gave the benediction.

One of the most prestigious elements of the CCC commencement ceremony is the presentation of the Arthur E. Steele Award. This honor, selected by the faculty and staff, is awarded to a graduating senior based upon his or her service and leadership activities. Ahna Boley, from Grayson, GA, was this yearís recipient of the Arthur E. Steele Award for exemplary character and dedication. Ahna received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts.

Following this award, 2012 class president, Brandon Littlefield presented the school with a class gift of funds to complete the water filtration system begun by the Class of 2011. Next, Chairman of the Board, Clay Custer was presented an honorary doctorate for his faithful service to Christ and support of the CCC family.

This year, four graduating ROTC cadets were honored with a standing ovation by the entire assembly. Cassidy Sisto (Air Force) and Tyler Murphy (Army) were commissioned 2nd Lieutenants in their respective branches of the United States Armed Forces, while Robert Will and Alex Abel (Army) will be commissioned in August after completing their graduation requirements at CCC. Military guests to the commencement ceremony included Major John Macksam, and Sergeant First Class John Briggs of the United States Army, and Lieutenant Colonel Mark Llewellyn of the United States Air Force.

The commencement address was given by Dr. David Doran, senior pastor of Inter-City Baptist Church and president of Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary in Allen Park, MI. Dr. Doran presented a charge to the graduates to live for the glory of God and through His grace.
