College Family Honors Strattons

Chapel on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, was designated as a special recognition of Dr. and Mrs. Stratton as they prepare to leave the ministry at the conclusion of the semester. The service opened with two testimonials and the CCC College Choir singing one of Dr. Strattonís favorite hymns "May the Mind of Christ My Savior." In their testimonies, senior Jon McLanahan used a well-known Stratton acronym, STAR, to describe Dr. Stratton from a studentís perspective (S-Servant, T-Team supporter, A-Always available, and R-Relationship builder), and professor Dr. Kris DeWitt spoke of his deliberate promotion of Jesus Christ as Lord of our lives through chapel and his day-to-day actions.

The Strattons were showered with gifts of flowers, an album of photos spanning the last ten years of ministry, a book of notes from alumni, students, and staff, a framed calligraphy drawn by faculty member Bob Carver of Philippians 1:3, and a plaque of appreciation from the CCC faculty and staff. Student body chaplain Gabe Josey gave the benediction, and the College Choir closed the service with the traditional "God Be with You Till We Meet Again." A cake reception was held afterwards in the gymnasium giving opportunity for those present to give their personal thanks to the Strattons and to fellowship with one another.
