Clearwater Christian College is proud to announce the graduation and commissioning of 2nd Lieutenant Christopher Lynn. Lynn was a December, 2011, Business Administration major that also earned a dual minor in Biblical Studies and Accounting. The partnership between CCC, the University of South Florida, and the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) allows full-time college students to earn their bachelor’s degree and commissioning at the close of their college career.

Already a service veteran, 2nd Lieutenant Lynn enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2004 and was deployed to Iraq in 2006. Upon returning to the States, Lynn began to pursue his bachelor’s degree at CCC because he recognized the need for highly trained, educated, Christian men and women in the United States Armed Forces. “CCC was the clear choice of academics, faith, and service to my country,” he said. “It is my belief that these three things are inseparable and essential to becoming an officer in the Marines and a military professional. Out of several institutions across the country, CCC clearly embodied these same values. This greatly simplified the decision-making process for me and my family.”

A busy dad of three children, Zoe (7), Aiden (3), and Hannah (1), 2nd Lieutenant Lynn has walked a difficult road over the course of his educational pursuit at CCC. “I believe I presented a unique challenge being a non-traditional student, but the college faculty, staff, and fellow students did an amazing job of embracing me and allowing me to complete my degree along with maintaining work/NROTC responsibilities, and a healthy family. Knowing that Christ had called me to do all things with excellence made all the difference and helped me balance the busy schedule of family, career, ROTC, and education.”

Dr. Ian Duncan, faculty advisor for 2nd Lieutenant Lynn, said, “I had the pleasure of having Chris in a few of my classes. When I reflect on my experiences in this regard, words that come to mind that characterize Chris include dedicated, disciplined, diligent, perseverant, and prepared, just to mention a few. A family man balancing several priorities, Chris never lost sight of his academic mission at Clearwater Christian College. As a believer, he never lost sight of his life mission, and reflected this in his day to day activities. Congratulations Chris on a job well done!”

2nd Lieutenant Lynn’s commissioning took place at USF on December 17, 2011. It was attended by several CCC faculty members including Dr. Dwight McEntire, Dr. Carl Martin, and Dr. Phil Golson. Mr. Frank Partridge gave the dedicatory prayer at the service.

The CCC family is proud to offer our hearty congratulations to 2nd Lieutenant Chris Lynn!
