2011-2012 Cougars Receive National Recognitions

Postseason accolades from the Clearwater Christian College fall athletic program included members of the men's and women's soccer teams and the volleyball team. The athletic department is pleased to announce the following recognitions.

Three Cougar soccer players were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-American team in a press release issued by the NSCAA. Senior Matt Tewes of Snellville, GA exceeded expectations this year as he was early picked as a team leader capable of providing stability. From Brandon, FL, junior Anthony DeRosse continues his three-year All-American nomination with his third award.

He is one of the strongest players on the team and is greatly dependable in his goalkeeper position. Sophomore Whitney Redemann of Charlotte, NC continues to offer her strong club background on defense to the Lady Cougars. As All-Americans, these three players give their teams depth of experience.

Coach James Whitaker and Coach Mark Bates are pleased with their players' accomplishments and are blessed to observe both their spiritual and physical developments during the 2011-2012 season. Congratulations Matt, Anthony, and Whitney!

In addition, three Cougar volleyball players were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association AVCA-NCCAA Division II All-American team in a press release by the AVCA. These include senior Emma Kile of Bulter, PA; junior Richelle Bucklin from Royal Oak, MI; and sophomore Sarah Wild from Clearwater, FL.
