CCC Bell Choir Appears on FOX 13 News

On Friday morning, December 9, the Clearwater Christian College Bell Choir appeared on FOX 13 “Good Day” in a special holiday spotlight as part of a promotion for the Henry Plant Museum Victorian Christmas Stroll. “We are helping to advertise the Victorian Stroll,” said Dr. Pattye Casarow, professor of music, chair of the department of music, and director of the CCC Bell Choir. “We were also able to briefly tell the Tampa Bay area about our upcoming 10-day trip to Istanbul and Bursa, Turkey, in March 2012.” The choir played a beautiful rendition of “Sing We Now of Christmas.”

“In pursuit of our raising funds for the trip to Turkey, I have been looking for concert opportunities. We were blessed to find out about the Stroll and were asked to be a part of the musical entertainment. The FOX News 13 Good Day show requested that we come play as they tell about the holiday event.”

The Bell Choir has been invited by Uludag University to present concerts and teach bell technique because they do not have hand bells in Turkey. “We are looking forward to building friendships and goodwill with the Turkish people, specifically college-aged students. We are in the process of raising the funds needed to make this trip,” said Dr. Casarow. During the FOX 13 interview, Ahna Boley, senior at CCC, student leader, and bell choir representative, said, “We are eager to bring the joy of ringing bells to the people of Istanbul.”

CCC is excited to be a part of this wonderful opportunity for the Bell Choir. The team is already in contact with university students in order to develop relationships that will be built upon during their visit. If you would like to support the team, we invite you to attend one of the many concerts in the upcoming months to benefit the Turkey trip.
