Casarow Conducts Workshop for Florida Music Association

On Saturday, April 16, Dr. Pattye Casarow conducted a half-day workshop on the Kodaly Approach in Music Education for the Florida Elementary Music Educators Association (FEMEA), District II. FEMEA is a branch of the Florida Music Educators Association, an organization that exists to promote quality music education for the state of Florida.

"I considered it a privilege to present this workshop and share my passion for music education," said Dr. Casarow. "Our goal is to foster life-long music makers and appreciators. This process must start with children. The elementary teacher can open a young soul to music for an entire lifetime."

Dr. Casarow is an experienced presenter and certified instructor in both the Kodaly and Orff approaches to music education and frequently hosts clinics and workshops for educators and music students. These musical education approaches combine singing, movement, composition, drama, and speech with child- and developmental-appropriate activities to instruct children in music education.

Recently, Dr. Casarow completed her Level III certification in the Orff approach. She is a member of the American Orff Schulwerk Association and the Organization of American Kodaly Educators, national organizations that work in conjunction with the Orff and the Kodaly approaches.
