Campus offices and the library will be closed, and classes will not meet on Monday, September 2, 2013, as the College pauses to observe the Labor Day holiday. Residence halls, food service, and the Cove will remain open, although service times may be adjusted. Resident students who choose to leave campus for the extended weekend may do so after their last class on Friday, August 30, but must return by curfew (12:00 a.m.) on Monday, September 2.
Labor Day was established as a federal holiday in recognition of the contributions of the American working class. Private and public celebrations traditionally mark the occasion, and Christians should be encouraged to thank the Lord for the blessings and benefits associated with this recognition. Labor Day also marks the unofficial end of summer and this observance should help CCC students catch their breath after the busy start of the fall semester and focus on the upcoming challenges of the academic year.
