Anchor's Away for Christian Life Conference

Clearwater Christian College announces the 2008 Christian Life Conference, August 25-28, featuring Pastor and motivational speaker, Steve Scheibner. According to Dr. Burggraff, "The purpose of this conference is to start out the semester dealing with spiritual character. From the origination of a personal walk with God (salvation) to the consistency of the Christian walk. There is a vast difference between professing Christ and living as a Christian. This Conference is a concentrated time during Chapel and evening sessions to focus on establishing or renewing a personal, ongoing walk with God, and how to live that life as independent, responsible adults." Services will be held during the normal chapel period at 9:00 a.m. and on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Senior pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Topsham, Maine, Pastor Steve Scheibner will be presenting his Core Values seminar as an initiative program to Elevate Virtues Above Feelings. Originally designed for the local church, this Core Values conference is now a unique opportunity for Clearwater students and employees to experience a course of study intended to place correct emphasis upon character development and successful Christian living. After developing his core values course for his home church, Pastor Scheibner's syllabus reached the Pentagon and was instilled into Naval Training seminars on U.S. Naval bases across the world. To date, over 7,000 service members have gone through similar training with dramatically positive results. One of the goals of this course is to create a sub-culture around core values such as honesty, integrity, and respect. A specific goal of the Christian Life Conference is to fill the gap that now exists between Bible study and Bible application.

The fundamental question of Christianity and the Christian walk has changed over the past 25 years. Rather than asking "Why?" students have begun to ask "Why not?" Because of this shift in focus, the distinguishing line between Christian character and Christian "culture" has been misconstrued and ultimately distorted. By the end of the Christian Life Conference, each attendee will develop their own Spiritual Life Objective, personally molded to their distinctive characteristics. Obtaining accountability partners to help adhere to this objective will be encouraged throughout the conference.

Pastor Scheibner, full-time pastor, pilot for American Airlines, officer in the United States Navy, aspirant to a Doctorate of Theology, and father of seven children will be an incredible blessing to Christian Life Conference attendees. Through his program, Clearwater Christian College will be enriched with core values specifically developed for Godly, character development and a biblically successful Christian life.

Please join us in prayer as the entire CCC student body, faculty, staff, and administration attend this life-changing, character-enriching Christian Life Conference.
