Easter Library

The college library is the student's access to information necessary for satisfying course requirements, personal enrichment, or vocational preparation.

Originally built in 1970 and expanded in 1989 with gracious gifts by Dr. and Mrs. Lowell Easter and others, Easter Library contains over 112,000 volumes; over 16,000 regularly received paper and electronic periodical titles; and thousands of music scores and multimedia materials. Collections of children's literature, curriculum materials, pamphlets, and the college archives were provided in part by a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Murray.

The library is recognized for its outstanding holdings in creationism, Biblical studies, Native Americans, official American Civil War records, and American Presidents. Our online catalog contains the records of 12 local public and college libraries. In addition, the library is a member of three professional networks -the Tampa Bay Library Consortium (TBLC), the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC), and the Association of Christian Libraries (ACL) - which expands the available resources to over 43,000 libraries in 87 countries with over 51 million records.

In addition to serving our campus population, Easter Library is open to the public whether through onsite visits or through our online services. Our dedicated and trained staff is always ready to give assistance and service whenever needed.

Researching has taught me to integrate academic skills learned since my freshman year: from using Modern Language Association (MLA) citation format to utilizing bibliographies to accessing multi-volume resources such as Cambridge History of American Literature and Dictionary of American Biographies. The hard work involved in doing the homework slips, reading and remembering The Art of Literary Research, and spending a generous portion of my college life in the Easter Library is commensurate to the reward I have received--an enriched and educated perspective.
