Kirkley Receives First All-American Title
Brent Kirkley
Sophomore pitcher and shortstop, Brent Kirkley was recently named
All-American by the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) for the 2009-2010 baseball season. Brent is the first baseball player from CCC to be awarded All-American since the NCCAA began awarding this honor in 2006.
“Brent exemplified everything that an All-American should be,” said Coach Raul Hernandez. “He was a great example off the field, as well as on the field. All season long he was consistent on the mound and gave the team a great opportunity to win.”
As an exercise and sport science major, Brent has devoted the bulk of his time to the pursuit of excellence, both on the field and in the classroom. In his season outlook, Coach Raul Hernandez said, “Brent is a young sophomore who has electric stuff. He will be a conference starter. Brent is very poised for a young pitcher and last year’s experience as a freshman will pay off great this spring.” On all counts, Brent succeeded expectations as evidenced by the well-deserved honor of being All-American.
Congratulations, Brent!
