Goff Recognized by Florida Fund
Elementary Education major, Nicole Goff was recently awarded the CCC Scholar of the Year award and the Minority Teachers Educational Scholarship by the Florida Fund for Minority Teachers (FFMT). Each year, the FFMT awards monetary scholarships to Florida students that are interested in pursuing positions within the state. To be considered eligible for the Scholar of the Year award, a student must have a GPA of 3.0 or above and must display leadership, character, and community involvement.
Like any other college student, at first, Nicole was worried about financial aid and scholarship opportunities, but after praying and seeking opportunities, she saw God work in miraculous ways on her behalf. “God provided everything for me to come to CCC,” she said. Nicole has received the $4,000 FFMT scholarship for the past two years because of her dedication to educational excellence. After graduation from CCC, she plans to enter the field of education while pursuing her master’s in Administrative Leadership. She also would like to earn an AA in Business Administration to compliment her degrees, but most importantly, she desires God’s will for her life.
“I am thankful to have received this award. It shows that we are watched not only by our peers and instructors, but also by those outside of our normal circles. They see what some don’t; therefore, it is essential to work hard to receive an education because it pays off in the end.”

In addition to her studies, Nicole serves as a resident assistant and a discipleship leader, works several on-campus jobs including receptionist in Cathcart Hall, and participates in the nursing home ministry and her church nursery as her Christian Service. She was both the president of Kappa Alpha Chi and a member of the CCC Student Government Board during the 2008-2009 school year.
Ruth Strum, director of financial aid, said,"We’re very proud and happy that Nicole was chosen to represent CCC as a Florida Fund for Minority Teachers Scholar of the Year. Not only is it an honor for her, but also for our college." Nicole is joined at CCC by her siblings, Shawn and Delisa Goff.
