NCCAA Region Update
The women's soccer and women's volleyball teams won the NCCAA II regional championship tournaments, held in Toccoa Falls, Georgia.
The men's soccer team won second place in the regional tournament. Both women's teams will play in the national tournaments to be held November 7-10.
Women's Soccer
In the championship game for NCCAA II South Regionals, the Lady Cougars played good, solid defense and secured their first Regional Championship title. Winning against the home team, Toccoa Falls College, the Lady Cougars fought hard for the championship banner. The Lady Cougars will advance to the NCCAA National Tournament with the #1 seed and the #1 ranking in the country.
Volleyball
The Cougars captured the 2012 NCCAA South Region Championship with a solid three set sweep over Trinity College of Florida, 25-14; 25-21; 25-18.
The Cougars showed strength and composure as they went up against a very solid opponent in Trinity College. Senior, Richelle Bucklin dominated play at the net finishing with 21 kills while Amanda Bucklin contributed another 15 kills. Amanda Ison led the defense with 14 kills. Kim Ponce, who came in as setter for the tournament, had 12.3 assists per game and did an outstanding job running the offensive attack. With the win, the CCC team secures a place at the NCCAA National Tournament to be held at the Kissimmee Civic Center, November 8-10, 2012.
Men's Soccer
The Cougars fell 1-0 to home team Toccoa Falls in a tough, close match that landed CCC as the second place team in the South Region. They fought hard, but were unable to crack the defense of Toccoa Falls.
