Cantorum Sings at RNC Event
Cantorum at Faith and Freedom Coalition rally
On Sunday, August 26, the Clearwater Christian College Cantorum was privileged to sing at the Faith and Freedom Coalition rally to open the Republican National Convention. This opportunity came about when Ralph Reed, founder of the Faith and Freedom Coalition, called and requested the Cantorum to sing at the convention held in the famous Tampa Theatre.
“I was thrilled with the experience,” said Dr. Pattye Casarow, director of the Cantorum. “It went very well. The audience roared with applause and appreciation. I’m so thankful to the Lord that our students can enjoy these very special types of opportunities that will be lifetime memories.”
The Cantorum, consisting of students and alumni, sang a trio of patriotic songs that included
I Hear America Singing
by Andre Thomas,
Who Are the Brave
by Joseph Martin, and
Patriot’s Honor
by Matt McMorris. Participants include: Dr. Pattye Casarow (director), Faith Alexander, Betsi Beardsley, Jillian Blackwell, Elizabeth Earley, Sarah Giddings, Ethan Gotcher, Mackenzie Gotcher (alumnus), Joshua Hoag (alumnus), Peter Littrell, Dan McDowall, Briana Mitten,
Soloist Mackenzie Gotcher
Nathan Perrie (alumnus), Hannah Schmidtke, Spencer Shelburne, Sarah Trill, and Richard Verano. The Cantorum was accompanied by pianist, Miriam Howard.
Mackenzie Gotcher, a vocal performance graduate, said, “The Cantorum was such a vital part of my growth as a musician at CCC, so it was a pleasure to be able to join with them again as a graduate to represent the college on such a global stage. The response we were given at the Faith and Freedom Coalition was humbling to say the least. This was an experience I will not soon forget as a musician, as an American, and as a Christian.”
Special guests at the Faith and Freedom Coalition rally included former U.S. Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, and U.S. Senate candidate Ted Cruz of Texas among others.
