The Cougars went to Miami and played an intense game that produced not goals until the 88th minute when freshman Kelsey Murphy put the ball past the Lions goalie to earn a 1-0 win.
Lady Cougars Lose Opener
The Cougars suffered a tough loss in the opening match for 2014, losing 4-1. The Cougars were able to tie the game midway through the 2nd half on a goal by Heidi Ruth but it was not enough. The score does not indicate how evenly most the game was played, but two late goals gave the Johnson and Wales side a 3 goal cushion to finish the game.

I look back on my first year as a college athlete and thank the Lord for the privilege to be part of something bigger than myself. To be a
member of a soccer team gives you the opportunity to bond with other Christian girls and strive for the same goals on and off the field.
Fellow athletes give you a reason to keep playing your best even in the most difficult games.
It's a good parallel to the cause of Christ
and the resources He gives us in our challenges during this earthly race. Like our fellow Christians, we are all pursuing the same goal--to
glorify Christ in all we do. Playing college soccer has been challenging, but the rewards are so evident and to be part of something that
you could never achieve on your own is a privilege that I hope many others come to enjoy in their college experience.
