CCC Athletic and Spiritual Excellence Awarded
(6/15/10) On Friday, June 4, the National Christian College Athletic Association presented Clearwater Christian College with the highly sought after Sports Ministries Award for the 2009-2010 athletic year.

Athletic Awards Reception
(5/4/10) On Tuesday, April 27, the Athletic Department of Clearwater Christian College hosted an awards reception in Cathcart Dining Hall. During the evening, athletes from both winter and spring sports were presented with the yearly awards.

Women's Basketball Players Receive National Honors
(3/23/10) Katie Mullens and Richelle Bucklin were awarded individual honors by the National Christian College Athletic Association for their performances on the basketball court during the 2009-2010 season.

Halstead Named Women’s Basketball Coach
(3/9/10) Melanee Halstead has been named the Cougars’ women’s basketball coach for the 2010-2011 season.

ACC Ends Cougars Run to Championship
(2/27/10) Clearwater, FL- Atlanta Christian College defeated Clearwater Christian College 68-47 to win the NCCAA D2 South Region Championship in Clearwater, Florida. This was the second year in a row that the Chargers defeated the Cougars for the title. Clearwater had defeated Atlanta the previous week but couldn't get it going on the offensive end against the Chargers. With the win, the Chargers will advance to the NCCAA National Tournament in Philadelphia in 2 weeks.

Cougars Defeat Fire, Advance to Regional Championship
(2/26/10) Clearwater, FL- The Clearwater Christian College women's basketball team defeated Southeastern University 47-44 in the semifinal game of the NCCAA D2 South Region Women's Basketball Tournament. With the win, the Cougars advance to the Regional Championship game against Atlanta Christian College at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Cougars Come Up With Huge Upset Over ACC
(2/20/10) Atlanta, GA - The Clearwater Christian College women's basketball team defeated Atlanta Christian College 59-57 in their final regular season game of the season. Atlanta came in as the #1 team in the region and the #6 team in the nation. The Cougars had narrowly lost to the Chargers earlier in the season and were focused on upsetting ACC on the road and earning the #3 seed in the upcoming South Region tournament.

Cougars Struggle in Loss to Toccoa
(2/19/10) Toccoa Falls, GA - Clearwater Christian College lost to Toccoa Falls College on Friday night by a final score of 62-47. The game was the 2nd game of a 3 game road swing up north to finish the season. The Cougars were coming off an important road win over Piedmont Baptist College, but they couldn't find their range against the Eagles.

Cougars Defeat Piedmont on Road
(2/18/10) Winston-Salem, NC - The Clearwater Christian College women's basketball team won a key region contest 79-68 on the road in Winston-Salem, NC against Piedmont Baptist College. Clearwater trailed most of the first half but battled back to take a 1 point lead at the half at 34-33. In the 2nd half, the Cougars continued to build on the lead before eventually prevailing by a final score of 79-68.

Cougars Come From Behind to Defeat Pensacola
(2/15/10) Pensacola, FL- The Clearwater Christian College women's basketball team won a hard-fought 62-59 victory over NCCAA rival Pensacola Christian College. The Cougars had defeated the Eagles 76-55 at home earlier this season, but PCC came out determined to give the Cougars a tough game.

Lady Cougars Put Out the Fire
(2/9/10) Clearwater, FL- The Clearwater Christian College women's basketball team defeated Southeastern University 83-76 in a key region matchup in their final home game on Tuesday night.

Cougars Come Up Short Against ACC
(2/6/10) Clearwater, FL- The Clearwater Christian College women's basketball team lost a tight game to Atlanta Christian College on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 55-64. ACC came into the game ranked #5 in the nation, but the Cougars came in focused on pulling off the upset.

Cougars Lose Tough Region Game to Toccoa
(2/5/10) Clearwater, FL- The Clearwater Christian College women's basketball team lost a tough region matchup to Toccoa Falls College on Friday night by a final score of 68-62. The game was tight throughout with Toccoa maintaining the lead for the majority of the game. The Cougars struggled from the field and went into the half down by 3 at 36-33.

Cougars Play Well Early but Lose to SPC
(2/3/10) St. Petersburg, FL- The Clearwater Christian College women's basketball team played well early but eventually fell to St. Pete College by a final score of 79-51. CCC was up by early in the game 20-17 before SPC went on an 11-0 run to grab the lead at 28-17. The Cougars rallied late in the half, closing with an 8-0 run to close the deficit to 38-34 at the half.

Cougars Dominate Eagles
(1/30/10) Jacksonville, FL- Clearwater Christian College traveled to Jacksonville for a non-region matchup with Trinity Baptist College, winning 67-49. The Cougars had dominated the Eagles at home the previous week, winning 82-39, but Trinity came out determined to improve on that showing.

Lady Cougars Look To Upset St. Petersburg College
(1/26/10) Clearwater, FL-The Lady Cougars lost 81-46 to St. Petersburg College on Tuesday night. The game started out slowly and the Cougars were not at full speed because of some injuries to key players. CCC stayed close with SPC early on but couldn't capitalize on opportunites in the paint, which helped St. Petersburg build a 12 point lead at 35-23 going into the half.

Cougars Win Big Against Trinity Baptist
(1/22/10) Clearwater, FL- The Clearwater Christian College women's basketball team played host to Trinity Baptist College on Friday and won convincingly 82-39. The Cougars were led in scoring by Richelle Bucklin with 19 points and 7 steals. Amanda Isom added 17 points and 5 assists, and Alyssa Zallie contributed with 9 points. Kelly Fichtner led the Cougars in rebounding with 8 followed by Lauren Leabhart with 7 rebs and 5 assists.

Cougars Fall to Gyrenes
(1/19/10) The Clearwater Christian College women's basketball team lost on the road to Ave Maria University by a score of 48-81.

Lady Cougars Start 2010 Against Pensacola Christian College
(01/16/10) Clearwater, FL- On a day that was celebratory of past alumni of Clearwater Christian College business still had to be taken care of. The Pensacola Christian College Lady Eagles visited the CCC gym in hopes to spoil the festivities.

Lady Cougars Host Montreat College
(12/12/09) Clearwater, FL-The Lady Cougars played another tough NAIA school on Saturday when they hosted Montreat College from North Carolina.

Lady Cougars Battle Warner Royals
(12/10/09) Lake Wales, FL-The Lady Cougars played a very exciting game at Warner University on Thursday night. The final 68-63 score was created by fast and furious play from both teams. In traditional nail-biting form, the CCC-WU game boasted three lead changes and quick ball handling.

Lady Cougars Host Northwood
(12/8/09) Clearwater, FL- The Lady Cougars faced their toughest opponent of the season last night in Northwood. CCC knew it was going to be a tough game coming into it.

Lady Cougars Face Off Against Regional Rival Southeastern
(12/1/09) Lakeland, FL- The Lady Cougars traveled to Lakeland for a game against Southeastern University. Clearwater came out strong in the first 5 minutes building a 9-3 lead with solid defense and some great hustle plays.

Lady Cougars Take Strong Offense on the Road to Johnson and Wales
(11/23/09) Lakeland, FL -- The Lady Cougars defeated Johnson and Wales University 69-49 in their 2nd game of the Lady Fire Classic over at Southeastern University. The Lady Cougars came out on fire to start the game playing to an 11-1 lead.

Lady Cougars Face Warner Southern
(11/20/09) Lake Wales, FL- The Lady Cougars traveled to face Warner Southern University, which looked to be a very tough game.

Lady Cougars Travel to Webber
11/17/09) Babson Park, FL-The Lady Cougars traveled to face Webber International University on Tuesday, November 17. CCC and Webber traded baskets for the first few minutes of the game with Webber taking the early lead 10-7. CCC hit a cool spell about 5 minutes into the game and Webber was on fire from the 3 point line.

Lady Cougars Host Ave Maria
(11/14/09) Clearwater, FL- The Lady Cougars hosted Ave Maria University Gyrenes on November 14, 2009. The momentum of the game went back and forth with each team trading baskets for the first 15 minutes of the game.

Lady Cougars Thrilling Home Opener
(11/13/09) Clearwater, FL- The Lady Cougars opened up their 2009-2010 season at home against Piedmont Baptist Bible College. Both teams battled back and forth in the first half, but Clearwater pulled away and ended the half with a score of 34-23.

Lady Cougars Host Alumni
(11/7/09) Clearwater, FL-The economy no doubt played a role in only two alumni being able to participate in this year’s Alumni Game – Bethany Williams and Jennifer Wilson.

3rd Annual Midnight Madness Kicks Off Basketball Season
(10/13/09) On Thursday, October 8, CCC students, staff, faculty, and administration came out to open the 2009-2010 basketball season with a bang.

Women's Basketball Team Off to Nationals!
(3/6/2009) The Clearwater Christian College women’s basketball team has won the at-large bid for the NCCAA Division II 2009 National Championship to be held on March 10-14 at Kentucky Christian University in Grayson, Kentucky.

Cougar Spotlight

Playing basketball at Clearwater has been an amazing opportunity, because I have made so many great memories and great friends by being on the team. God has blessed me by being a part of the women's basketball team, because I get to be involved with a great group of girls that strive to honor and glorify God above all else. Playing basketball is so much fun, but it is also a great way to grow closer to God. The team has devotions every day before practice, and we all get to share with each other what God is doing in our lives. Whether we win or lose, the praise goes to God, and ultimately that is all that matters.
