Volleyball Season Review (2011-2012)
The Lady Cougars recorded one of their most successful seasons during the 2011 season, capturing 42 wins with only 7 losses. As the winner of the NCCAA II National Tournament for the sixth consecutive year, the CCC women's volleyball team thanks God for another successful season. According to Coach Denny, "The wins were awesome, but we also had many spiritual victories which are even better. God truly showed Himself real to us in so many ways this season."
This year the team's Bible study focused on 2 Peter 1 and the team theme was "Cultivating Christ-like Character" taken from verses 7-9. According to Coach Denny, some highlights of the season included: the mission trip to Costa Rica in August, ministering to the Hope Children's Home in September, recording another 40 wins in a season with 42 victories, winning the NCCAA South Regional Championship for the 19th time, the NCCAA II National Tournament for the sixth time in a row, and capturing the 11th national title overall. Among other significant events for the year, the CCC Lady Cougars beat several nationally ranked top 20 NJCAA programs and won their own Labor Day Tournament and went 24-7 against scholarship programs. Another highlight for the year was Emma Kile breaking the all time career kill record held by Jenny Goodson (2004) and Emma also being named the NCCAA II Player of the Year for a second straight year.
According to Coach Denny, "This past year's team ranks among some of the best ever here at CCC. We recorded another 40 win season and won Nationals for a record six times in a row. In the classroom, the team continues to excel with a team G.P.A. of 3.5. In addition to all these accomplishments, the ultimate goal of the volleyball program at CCC continues to be to do our best for the Lord in everything."

Cougar Spotlight
God has given me the opportunity to play both basketball and volleyball here at CCC, and I am so thankful! The girls I've had the privilege to play sports with are my closest friends. Every day before practice, we share prayer requests, praises, or a passage from God's Word. It's awesome being challenged by my own teammates to grow more Christ-like through playing basketball and volleyball. I will never forget the memories I've made and the blessings I've received while playing sports. |
