Close Competition at Regionals Ends in Loss

(10/30/2010) The women's soccer team traveled to Toccoa Falls, Georgia for the NCCAA South Region championship game on Saturday. Toccoa Falls College had earned their way into the championship game by defeating Atlanta Christian College earlier in the week in a penalty shootout. TFC and the Cougars split their regular season matches, with both teams winning at home.

Clearwater jumped on top in the third minute of action when Madeline Tewes scored her second goal of the season, with the assist from Andrea Williamson. The Cougars played solid defense for the rest of the half, Ahna Boley made several outstanding saves in goal, and they led 1-0 at the intermission. Toccoa Falls quickly scored two goals in the first 5 minutes of the second half to take the lead. The Cougars made a good effort to score the equalizer but were unable to find the back of the net, leaving the final score at 2-1.
