Cougars Dominate Johnson Bible


(10/7/10) Clearwater Christian College defeated Johnson Bible College 7-0 in men's soccer action in the Atlanta area. This match was the first of 2 matches the Cougars are playing at Killian Hill Christian School in Lilburn, GA against teams from the NCCAA Mid-East Region.

The Cougars were able to relentlessly attack the Johnson goal, creating numerous scoring opportunities. Carl Lassegue got the Cougars off to a great start, scoring the first 2 goals for the Cougars in the 5th and 13th minute. Paul Vanaman scored only 1 minute later, and Walter Scharf would close the 1st half scoring with a header off a cross from Juan Robayo.

Clearwater was able to keep up the pressure, and Tyler Spraul scored on a header from Drew Custer's corner kick. Stephen McMahan would provide a spark off the bench, scoring the final 2 goals for the Cougars.

Anthony DeRosse and Garrett Hollenbach picked up the shutout for the Cougars, earning the 8th shutout on the season for the Cougars. Clearwater, currently ranked #1 nationally in the most recent NCCAA Coaches Poll, will take on #9 Ohio Christian University in a rematch of the 2009 NCCAA national semifinal match.
