Clearwater Clips Falcons to Improve to 8-2

(10/5/10) Clearwater Christian College defeated Florida College 4-1 in men's soccer action. The Falcons came into the match on a 4 game winning streak, but the Cougars took charge of the match early, scoring 2 goals in the first 8 minutes.

Carl Lassegue opened the scoring for the Cougars only 6 minutes into the match, netting a rebound off a shot from Brian Chidarikire. Only 2 minutes later, Chidirikire scored on a rebound of his own following Tyler Spraul's free kick. For the remainder of the half, the Cougars continued to create opportunities to put the Falcons away with a third goal but were unable to finish.

Clearwater came out of the half intent on getting the third goal and were rewarded in the 47th minute when Carl Lassegue fed Walter Spraul on a nifty through ball that Scharf rocketed into the upper left corner to make it 3-0. The Falcons came back only minutes later as Saif Alsafeer scored in traffic off a corner kick following some confusion from the CCC defense. Tyler Spraul would cap the scoring for the Cougars on another rebound after Dexter Hollenbach got behind the Falcon defense, and his shot was rebounded to Spraul's feet for the putaway.

With the win, the Cougars improve to 8-2 on the season and are currently ranked #1 nationally in the most recent NCCAA D2 coach's poll. The Cougars next head to the Atlanta area for 2 inter-region matches against Johnson Bible College (Thursday at 4 p.m.) and Ohio Christian University (Friday at 3 p.m.).
