Cougars Win Second of Two Region Games

(10/2/10) The women's soccer team won its second straight conference game with a 2-0 victory over Atlanta Christian College. For the second straight game Whitney Redemann gave the Cougars a one-goal lead when she beat the ACC keeper with a 30 yard shot. Clearwater was able to control possession for much of the first half and took the one-goal lead into half-time. The Cougars were able to control the pace of play in the second half as well, and did an excellent job defensively against an Atlanta team that has shown its ability to score goals.

Krista Lewis scored her first goal of the season to make the score 2-0 in the 64th minute. Katherine Helder made one save in goal for the Cougars to record her second shutout of the weekend. The win gives the Cougars the top seed for the conference tournament. The Cougars play at home again on Tuesday against Florida College at 6:30 p.m.
