Cougars Bounce Back After Tough Loss

The Lady Cougars had to bounce back from a tough five set loss earlier in the day to play another strong NJCAA team. During set one the score went back and forth but the Cougars could not put away game point when they had the chance and lost, 24-26. During set two both teams had moments of great offensive and defensive plays with several long exchanges. The Cougars finally established a point run behind the solid serving by Danielle Heffernan and Liz Ennis to take the set, 25-21. During game three, the Cougars continued a solid offensive attack led by Emma Kile and Amanda Bucklin, eventually winning 25-16. Indian River did not give up and during the fourth set, the Lady Cougars again had to fight hard to win every point, eventually winning the set and the match. According to Coach Denny "these are the types of matches we need to push us. The competition at this tournament so far has been great for us, and we are growing together as a team. Liz Ennis really stepped up for us today not just as our setter, but on defense too. We will need to continue to play strong tomorrow as we face two other NJCAA opponents."
