Cougars Lose in Five

The Lady Cougars went five sets with NJCAA II powerhouse, Pasco Hernando Community College in a match that saw several momentum shifts. The Lady Cougars came out flat against the strong Pasco team and found themselves in a 3-10 deficit before Coach Denny called her first time out. Once CCC settled down and played defense, they were able to play point to point with the Conquistadors but dropped set one, 14-25. During the second game the Cougars again fought from behind, and could not defend against the strong Pasco attack. It was during the third set that the Cougars began playing solid defense along with some outstanding plays by setter, Liz Ennis to take the next two sets, 25-18, 25-15 to force a fifth set. Both teams played tough with the score going back and forth. In the end, the Cougars fell short of the win, but had a hard fought match. Coach Denny said, "I was especially pleased that our team did not just give up after losing the first two sets. Pasco is a very solid team and well coached. I was so impressed with our team's character and determination to go five sets." Emma Kile led the team with four kills per game, and Liz Ennis had over 9 sets per set.

The Cougars will have to regroup and play another solid program later in the day.
