Volleyball Team Wins Labor Day Tournament

The Clearwater Christian College volleyball team hosted their annual Labor Day tournament over the weekend and completed a clean sweep over all of their opponents, winning five straight matches in two days.

Only dropping one set the entire tournament, the Lady Cougars appear to be picking up where they left off last season when they were NCCAA II National Champions. Although this year’s team is quite young, the Cougars demonstrated maturity and poise as they faced some fierce competition going up against one NCAA III team, three NAIA squads, and one NCAA II team.

According to Coach Denny, “this team is only going to get better. Right now we are young and need some more tough tournaments to mature us into the team we can be. I was very pleased with the efforts of the team over the weekend, and they all did a fine job winning this competitive tournament."

Senior Liz Ennis, junior Emma Kile, and sophomore Richelle Bucklin were all named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Cougars are now 7-2 as they travel to Florida College on Tuesday night.
