New Hall of Fame Inductees

Chrissie Sugimoto

Alyssa Hallice
On Thursday, April 29, the Athletic Department of Clearwater Christian College inducted two students into the Hall of Fame. Seniors Chrissie Sugimoto and Alyssa Hallice are the two newest members of the prestigious athletic club and are among the “best of the best.”

In order to be considered for induction into the CCC Hall of Fame, the student must be a graduating senior, must be nominated by their respective coach, must have an outstanding testimony, and must be an outstanding athlete in his or her respective sport. To be an “outstanding athlete” the student must have been awarded a first or second team NCCAA All-American, or have earned the highest award available in her particular sport.

Chrissie Sugimoto
Chrissie Sugimoto has played on the Lady Cougars volleyball team for four consecutive years. She was part of the only senior class in school history to be four-time National Champions through their combined four-year record of 165 wins and 29 losses. During her junior year, she was named NCCAA National Libero of the Year and 1st Team All-American, and in 2007 and 2009 she was named NCCAA 2nd Team All-American. Chrissie was also named South Region Libero of the Year and 1st Team All-American for 2007, 2008, and 2009. Not only an exceptional athlete, Chrissie was an NCCAA Scholar Athlete in 2008 and 2009 as she maintained a perfect 4.0 average in pre-med.

Alyssa Hallice
As one of the most decorated volleyball players to play for the Lady Cougars, Alyssa Hallice is now a prominent member of the Hall of Fame. Also a member of the four-time National Championship team, Alyssa was named NCCAA National Player of the Year, as well as the NCCAA National Tournament Most Valuable Player. A three-time winner of the 1st Team All-American (2007-2009), she was also awarded the South Region Most Valuable Player and 1st Team All-Region in 2007, 2008, and 2009. In addition to her prowess on the volleyball court, Alyssa was a member of the CCC women’s basketball team for three seasons (2006-2009), where she was named 2nd Team All-American during her junior year.

According to Vickie Denny, CCC’s volleyball coach and President of the NCCAA, the two seniors will be missed on the Cougar’s court. “Chrissie and Alyssa have been outstanding athletes here at CCC. Both young ladies hold season and career records for Lady Cougar volleyball. What I have appreciated the most about both of these athletes is their desire for a real relationship with God, and wanting to use their gifts and abilities to honor Him. Although they both have different personalities and different strengths, God meshed them together on our team to achieve much success. Both were great team players and they will be missed, but I am excited to see how the Lord directs them in the years ahead.”

Both women were awarded a plaque to be displayed in the gym lobby to commemorate this honor. Congratulations, Chrissie and Alyssa! You’re among the “best of the best” of CCC athletes!
