Cougars Fall 6-4 to Fire

(4/6/10) Clearwater Christian College lost a tight game to the Southeastern Fire 6-4 on Tuesday night in Lakeland. The Cougars were trying to avenge a 12-2 loss earlier in the season. Starter Brent Kirkley pitched 5 strong innings allowing 2 runs and striking out six.

The Cougars were down 2-1 in the top of the six when a throwing error by the SEU shortstop allowed 2 runs to score. Kameron Kandefer stole second and that allowed Junior first baseman Zack Weber to score from third making the score 4-2. The Cougars gave up the lead in the bottom half of the inning when Junior Josh Rebandt gave up a single with two outs that scored two runs. In the bottom of the 7th inning the Cougars gave up a couple of more runs on an error. The Cougars had an opportunity to tie the game in the top of the ninth with two runners on but could not get the runs across.

The Cougars are now 7-16 on the season and are heading up north for a pair of important region doubleheaders against Atlanta Christian and Toccoa Falls.
