Cougars Defeat Toccoa 9-8 Behind Strong Pitching from Ramos

(3/20/10) In the third game of the series, Clearwater Christian College defeated Toccoa Falls College 9-8 behind a strong pitching performance from senior right hander Luis Ramos and timely hitting from the Cougar lineup.

Ramos pitched a gem for the Cougars, keeping the Eagle hitters guessing all game as the Cougars mounted an 8-1 lead. The Cougar offense was able to manufacture runs throughout the game to build the lead. With the Cougars ahead 8-1 in the top half of the seventh inning, the Eagles stormed back to score 7 runs to tie it up at 8-8. In the bottom of the seventh, shortstop Chris Caudillo started the inning off with a base hit to left. Matt Vasquez got on with a sacrifice bunt that was not fielded by the Eagle first baseman. Centerfielder Ethan Barba bunted both runners over to place runners on second and third with one out. Freshman left fielder Ryan McDonald came up to bat with runners in scoring position and a wild pitch scored Caudillo from third for the Cougar win. Freshman Josh Williams picked up the win for the Cougars.
