Men's Basketball Players Receive National Honors

Matt Wells
Junior guard Mike Walker and sophomore guard Matt Wells were awarded the Scholar Athlete title by the National Christian College Athletic Association for their performances on the basketball court during the 2009-2010 season. In order to achieve this recognition, athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher.

Coach Keith Champion said, “Mike is a hardworking junior who sat out most of last year with an injury, but was [counted on] for leadership and was a defensive stopper at the guard position [for the 2009-2010 season]. Also, as an incoming sophomore, Matt gained the respect of his teammates as an intense, hardworking player. I [counted on] Matt to be a consistent contributor to the Cougar program.”
