Cougars Win First Game; Defeat Cedarville


(2/27/10) Clearwater, FL- The Cougars hosted Cedarville University on Saturday afternoon. The game was moved from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. due to a rain delay, but that did not affect the determination of the Cougars to win their first game. Junior captain pitcher Josh Rebandt pitched 4 2/3 innings, striking out 4. Rebandt left the game with the Cougars trailing 3-2 when Senior Luis Ramos took the hill in relief. Ramos pitched 2 1/3 innings, striking out one and allowing no runs. Ramos earned his first victory of the season. Offensively the Cougars mustered five hits. Freshman Albert Ulloa, Ryan McDonald and Gaby Suarez added two hits and an RBI, while Junior Joe Keene had the other RBI. Ethan Barba made the game saving play of the night with two outs and the bases loaded. Barba made a leaping catch against the fence to save a possible grand slam. Clearwater won the game by a final score of 4-3.
