Clearwater Drops Final Game to Atlanta


(2/20/10) Atlanta, GA - In the final game of the regular season, Clearwater Christian College fell to Atlanta Christian 92-78. The Cougars were attempting to finish the regular season with their first winning season in 5 years.

In an exciting first half, the Cougars went to the half-time break with a 41-40 advantage. Timely 3 point shooting and unselfish play were the keys as they took the lead at intermission over the NCCAA's #11 ranked team. Atlanta came out in the second half with a renewed energy on the boards and hit 8-3 point field goals to pull away from the Cougars.

Lonzo Saunders once again led the Cougars with 19 points. Troy Hadlock had 18, Todd Wahlberg, 11, and Matt Wells chipped in 10. Bryan Spears snagged 9 rebounds for CCC. The Cougars ended the regular season with a 12-13 record.

Clearwater opens post-season play against Southeastern Bible College in the NCCAA South Region Tournament on Thursday. The game time will be 3:00 p.m., and the games will be played at the Kissimmee Civic Center in Kissimmee, Florida.
