Cougars Pick Up Key Road Win vs. Florida Christian


(2/10/10) Clearwater Christian College defeated Florida Christian College 77-67 Tuesday night for a key region win on the road. With the win, the Cougars have won 8 of their last 11 and improved their overall record to 10-10 on the season (5-5 in region play).

The Cougars played well in the first half, building a ten point lead midway through the half before Florida Christian took the lead by 1 going into the half. Clearwater got hot again in the second half, pushing the lead to as many as 20 points before the Suns made a late push to close the final deficit to 10 points at 77-67.

Clearwater dominated on the boards, outrebounding Florida Christian 45-30 on the night led by Bryan Spears with 12 and George Youstra with 9. The Cougars got balanced scoring from the team led by Lonzo Saunders with 17 points, Troy Haldock with 16, Matt Wells with 14, and Todd Wahlberg adding 12.

The Cougars travel to Birmingham on Friday for a region matchup with Southeastern Bible College at 7 p.m. (CST).
